Soil analysis for cultivation

Soil analysis for cultivation is important to know the characteristics of the soil where the crop is to be grown. It is essential to ensure a quality harvest and at the same time serves as a guarantee for the production of safe and wholesome food.

Why do soil analyses and what they consist of?

By means of a soil analysis, we can check the fertility of the soil, which is especially important in soils with high agronomic wear. Knowing the productive capacity of our soil will help us to better plan the types of crops to be planted and their rotations.

On the other hand, the analysis will provide information on the nutrients available in the soil, which is the starting point for a tailor-made fertilisation plan that meets the specific needs of each crop and soil.

Finally, we can also find out if there are pollutants in the soil and take measures to reduce them.

For an optimal analysis, it is essential to extract the ground molars in a proper way, for which we provide the following indications:

Instructions for collecting soil samples

A soil sample has to be representative of the whole field. To make a sample, 10-20 shots or sub-samples should be taken from different areas over the whole surface. Areas where manure has recently been piled up or which are not typical for the area to be sampled (ruts where water often passes through, remains of campfires, etc.) should be avoided. The different samples shall be mixed homogeneously in order to send a toral of between 300 g and 1 kg.

Store in zip bag and refrigerator (4-5 °C) and identify each bag:

  • Name of sender
  • Address
  • Identification of the sample
  • Place, locality, province
  • Date of collection
