Active control of defoliating fungi
Active control of defoliating fungi
Objective: Description of the active control strategy for the disease caused by band defoliator fungi in pine forests in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country.
Collaborators: Neiker, Basque Government, HAZI, UPV/EHU
Description: Brown band (Dothistroma septosporum and Lecanosticta acicola) is a fungus that affects pine trees in northern Spain to a large extent. The Basque Country is one of the epicentres of this disease due to the great extension of its forest mass, being the pine the most extensive tree species. The solution proposed by Econatur Ikerketa is to increase the plant welfare of pine trees so that they naturally have a greater natural effectiveness in combating this disease.
Project phase: Field studies using various biostimulant dispersal techniques.
