Activation of natural defences for downy mildew control in vitis vinifera plants and evaluations of natural product-based strategies for downy mildew and powdery mildew control
Chemical control is the most widely used tool for the control of powdery mildew and downy mildew on vines. However, the negative effects that can result from its use, such as the loss of efficacy of fungicides due to the appearance of resistance, the environmental impact due to the contamination of aquifers or the accumulation in soils as occurs with copper, deserve at least a reflection on the possible existing alternatives or possible improvements in its use. That is why NEIKER in collaboration with ECONATUR, companies in charge of carrying out the evaluation of a commercial vineyard of different strategies designed with products that develop a role as biostimulants of the natural defences of the plants, in strategies for the control of mildew and powdery mildew in areas of high infective pressure, intercalating them between the conventional phytochemicals that are usually used for the control of these diseases, caused by the pathogens Erysiphe necator and Plasmopara viticola, respectively.
